The Ultimate boys toy coffee table! This piece has taken over 200 hours of love care and attention to create. The polished turbine hub from a Bristol Siddley Orpheus engine mounted on a custom made polished aluminium base.
The hub is from the Orpheus turbojet engine of a Red Arrows Gnat aircraft. The engine was scraped in the 1980`s but the turbine was salvaged as a souvenir due to its history. The Orpheus engine comprises of a seven stage all axial compressor driven by a single stage turbine hub.
Made from high grade Nomonic alloy this turbine hub looks fantastic mounted on it`s custom base. The base is made from two 10mm thick water jet cut aluminium circles each internally welded to a section of 200mm polished aluminium tube. The base alone is a work of art!
The hub is surrounded by 79 turbine blades all of which have been removed, cleaned, polished and refitted taking over 2hrs per blade!
The piece is topped off with a 10mm toughened safety glass and has a Orpheus engine plate.
This table truly look awesome! Its a one off totally unique item and is also a fantastic piece of British aviation history.
